Bruning’s Clock Shop is owned and operated by a 9th Generation Swiss Clockmaker, whose family came from Berne,

MAINTAINING YOUR CLOCK
Floor clocks require a minimum of maintenance. With just a little care, you can maintain the exceptional
quality of your clock. Wind your clock every seven days. Wax and polish your clock cabinet as frequently
as you would your other furniture. The balance of the clock is important for the function of the movement,
so you should check periodically to ensure that your clock rests firmly on all four levelers. Check the
weights occasionally to ensure that they are still tightly assembled.
Each clock will include a manual describing maintenance in detail. In general, a floor clock movement should
be oiled every three to four years, and thoroughly cleaned every ten to fifteen years depending on climate.
Extremely dry, humid or salty air, heat or cold may necessitate more frequent servicing. An authorized
clock dealer should do this servicing.
