2008 The Terraces Chardonnay Taste $4.00 Bottle $29.99 |
100% Chardonnay, tank fermented and aged sur lie in neutral French oak for six months. Weekly lees stirring increases richness, no malolactic provides crisp, refreshing acidity. |
2007 Stepping Stone Grenache Taste $3.00 Bottle $21.99 |
The inspiration for this Grenache came from a love of the earthy, warm spicy wines of the Southern Rhone like Sablet and Rasteau. This brawny pepper pot of a wine certainly pays tribute to those wines, but the deep round fruit is all California. In the blending tradition of the southern Rhone Valley, Cornerstone's winemaker has blended 4% Zinfandel into this wine to brighten and expand the generous, ripe dark fruit flavors. |
2007 Stepping Stone Cabernet Franc Taste $3.50 Bottle $27.99 |
The Cornerstone Cellars team have always loved the high-strung, aromatic Cabernet Franc wines of the Loire Valley like Chinon and feel the cool Carneros climate perfect for echoing some of those traits. Winemaker Jeff Keene has long experience working with Carneros fruit and his light touch shows in the blend of 90% Cabernet Franc and 10% Merlot that he selected for this wine. The aromas are very high-toned and minty and on the palate it is voluptuous with a hint of oak and a racy touch of wild herbs. This elegant wine is long and firm on the finish. |
2004 Cornerstone Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Taste $7.50 Bottle $64.99 |
Aromas display lovely bright cherry, cinnamon bark, anise, tobacco and raspberry tones. At entry the structure is soft and round, with lively fresh cherry and baking spice flavors. A balanced mid-palate gives way slowly to a soft, berry-filled impression at the finish. |
A taste of this week's featured beer will also be available:
Stone Smoked Porter Taste $1.00 Bottle $4.99 |
This is no ordinary porter. It pours a gorgeous deep mahogany crowned by a creamy head. Dark, smooth and complex, it boasts rich chocolate and coffee flavors balanced by a subtle smokiness. |
